about

This is essentially a rock 'n' roll track, but there is an orchestral/medieval prelude, and a distinct arabic flavour throughout. It has influences from some of my favoutite things like Bond - John Barry themes, arabic music, elvis presley, mel torme, jerry lee lewis.

lyrics

Once the ruler
Of the kingdom
That I came to know as my own
Till I drank a poison
Left unattended
An elixir of love
Now chaos reigns supreme
My thinking not my own
I'm not fit to rule
And so I gave up my throne.

Don't make me a subject
In my own land
Don't make me kiss you on
The back of the hand
Don't make me bow and curtsey
Scrape down on bended knee
Please take your love
Far away from me.

Restore the order
My simple life once had
When i did, as I pleased
And my heart was glad
I flap around like a
Butterflies' wings
You start them off but they're
Dangerous things
A hurricane is born
To blow you off your feet.

See, all you do is tempt me
And give in I must
My heart is pounding
And it won't be hushed
Flickered painted eyelids
Lips just freshly licked
Do nothing for me
'Cept make me sick
It's not the chamber girl
My heart commands
It's the swarthy
Stable hand

I have a theory
That I'm to scared to test
So I keep myself
Under house arrest
I have a theory
And resist I might
But I know one day
You'll prove me right
You'll prove me right.
